President and CEO
Jonathan Sandler has been an energy solutions provider since 2001. Jonathan got his start in the electricity industry as Director of Business Development for Northland Power. While there, Jonathan developed 160 MW of wind energy off of Lake Huron, Ontario and 250 MW of wind energy in the Gaspe region of Quebec. After leaving Northland in 2004, Jonathan started Gengrowth Renewables Inc. and developed 260 MW of wind energy in South-western Ontario and 160 MW of solar farm projects in Eastern Ontario. All of these projects have reached commercial operations, are considered highly successful ventures and represent approximately 5% of all wind and solar energy that is currently operating in Ontario translating into a capital spend of over $1.2 billion.
Jonathan has a MBA from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver and is a Chartered Accountant of Ontario.
Director of Development
Ashley is a seasoned professional with more than 10 years of progressive experience in renewable energy and real estate development. Prior to joining Baseload Power Corp., Ashley was the Director of Business Development for Gengrowth, a Canadian energy company focused on the creation of renewable energy projects. In this executive role, Ashley developed over 150 MW of solar energy projects across Ontario, all of which have reach commercial operations. Ashley’s diverse past including various roles spanning commercial real estate development and real estate asset management. Ashley is a graduate of McMaster University.
Matthew Clarke (PhD) has spent the last 10 years in product and project design/development for photovoltaics, battery storage systems, and diesel engines. He has performed technical due diligence studies as well as use-case analysis for various energy storage and renewable energy projects. Currently he is employed at S&T Smart Energy GmbH, supporting a smart grid product portfolio in the DACH and central Europe regions.
Regarding Flow Batteries, Matthew has a broad range of experience in technical sales, project development and the design of flow batteries. He served as project lead for developing and overseeing the design specifications for the IESO project at Gildemeister Energy Storage GmbH (cellstrom). In addition he has created simulations for the chemical and electrical performance of flow batteries.
Eugene gained his M.Sc.Ch.E. (Honors) in Electrochemical Technologies in 1987. Eugene is a versatile Chemical Engineer with over 28 years of experience in several industrial sectors and American corporations. Eugene gained some specific flow batteries expertise, having held several positions in the United States for developers such as Imergy Power Systems and VRB Power Systems.
Jeff Segal serves as Baseload Power Corp.’s construction advisor as he has unparalleled insight on all aspects of an integrated development and construction process and has the ability, integrity and ambition to transform a vision into a profitable development venture of innovation and excellence.
Jeff has previously served as Vice-President of Gengrowth where he was responsible for developing 90 MW of wind power and 60 MW of solar power in Ontario. Subsequent to Gengrowth, Jeff was President of Prowind, Canada where he led the team with the early development process of wind farms in Ontario.
Jeff’s historical development and construction experience also includes 10+ years managing the development and construction of commercial properties as well as both low and high-rise residential properties across Canada and in the United States. Jeff holds a degree in Architecture from the University of Toronto and a Masters in Business Administration (finance) from Dalhousie University.
Carolyn Pittman, with her 15 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, is an independent consultant specializing in renewables with a focus on regulatory strategy, project management, stakeholder engagement, management and coordination of environmental assessments and permits and approvals, due diligence and environmental compliance.
Carolyn brings a proven track record of strong leadership and in-depth knowledge of the renewable energy industry to Baseload. During her 10 years at ENGIE (formerly GDF SUEZ), Carolyn was a key member of the team that developed, constructed and operated over 500MW of wind projects across Canada.
